There are 51 beautiful ladies competing to take home the Miss USA 2017 crown. Colorado is a state that has had some stunning and confident ladies compete each year, but has not been successful at winning the Miss USA pageant. The farthest a Miss Colorado has made it since 1963 was Jessica Hartman, who finished third runner-up in 2010. But 2017 may be Colorado’s year, thanks to Sabrina Janssen. #1. Her Proudest Accomplishment
Janssen lives in Denver, Colorado with her extended family. According to her Facebook page, she graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton. You’d think being crowned the most beautiful woman in her state would be her biggest achievement. However, the 21-year-old’s biggest accomplishment (according to her) is that she’s her family’s first generation high school graduate.
There’s no information on her parents, but from her Miss USA introductory video, it’s clear she has a large family, and they are her biggest supporters.
#2. She Plays Softball
The Denver native is a pitcher, and played for her school’s softball team. She shows off her skills in her Miss USA video, where she’s sporting her high school’s uniform.

Janssen finds pitching to be empowering as she says “you’re in control of the game.” If it weren’t for softball, we wouldn’t be seeing the strikingly confident Miss Colorado on the stage. “Softball really helped me be more outgoing and kind of pull me out of my shell,” she said.
#3. She’s a Body Activist
Every Miss USA contestant has a cause they stand by and hope to make a difference for. The 21-year-old is a body activist and champion of body image issues. She hopes to help self-conscious youth become confident about their bodies during her reign as Miss Colorado.
She travels and meets young people, speaking to them about body image and eating disorders. Janssen says she wants to share her own story and personal struggles to inspire the younger generation. She looks like she works hard to stay in shape, so we wonder what inspired and motivated her!
#4. She’s a Model
Sabrina Janssen has been competing in the Miss Universe organization’s pageant circle for the last four years. She calls winning Miss Colorado a surreal moment for herself and her family. While she lives and breathes pageants, she’s also a professional model. She hopes to continue modeling after she’s left the pageant world.
Signed with Donna Baldwin Agency in Denver and the globally famous Elite Model Management, Sabrina has been modeling since she was a teen. She traveled all over the world for her modeling gigs and has appeared in the music video for Daddy Yankee’s, “Nota de Amor.” She and her fellow Team Elite models also competed against models from other agencies at the Model Volleyball Tournament.
#5. She’s Off the Market
Yes, she’s beautiful and many would like to date her. Sadly, she’s off the market. Janssen’s Instagram features one Michael Aaron Carico. She has celebrated National Boyfriend Day, Valentine’s Day, and other special occasions with him. So, you can say they’re pretty serious. And he’s excitedly gushing about his girlfriend being in the Miss USA pageant! How cute!
